Tech Tips – Vinter Dämpare Service

It’s that time of year again! Your bikes had a hard year and now it either gets a rest and put away for the winter, or it’s full steam ahead and prepare for a harsh winter. We thought a little tech help from the workshop might be useful! It’s amazing how many dampers we get in for service with various screws undone or missing, all unnecessarily and costly to fix in many cases, so if you’re not confident with what you’re doing, don’t do it!

Servicing your damper might seem unnecessary or a cost that you could very well do without, but the truth really is that you’ll save yourself the money and time off the bike by doing service routinely and BEFORE something goes wrong. A bit like your car… when that little lamp blinks on, you service the car. t was working perfectly alright, but of course there are things that need to be checked, adjusted or replaced just to keep it like that, so do yourself a favour and take care of your expensive dampers before they come and bite you in the butt!

Also – a word about hygiene! A fork service is a bit like surgery! We need a VERY clean start point (your damper) We do our bit with workshop cleanliness and appropriate practices, but we can’t service a fork or damper if it’s (literally) muddy from the last ride. We can clean them for you, but we will have to charge you (surprised?!) as it’s time we could otherwise be doing something else.

One note we didn’t make on the Tips page, was if you have Rock Shox Dampers with an ‘XX’ model – i.e a double hydraulic lockout to front, rear or both together – we’d recommend that you leave that well alone and bring the bike in to us complete! It makes everyone life easier and your wallet much heavier!

Apart from that… Välkommen!

We’re hiring!

That’s right! We’re looking for (principally) another mechanic to join our team! We need someone who’s got experience already and knows one end of a spanner from the other! You’ll be a self motivated person, who brings their own energy to the day and who has good people skills, can talk to customers and colleagues all whilst working in a relatively confined space! Egos and attitudes need not apply!

Experience of all types of bike would be an advantage. Hydraulics, suspension, electricals, wheel building and other ‘techy things’ are always on the schedule, not just punctures and gear adjusts. We’d give you an extra gold star for every ‘official’ certificate you’ve got as well – Shimano SC, Bosch, RS osv…

Working as part of a small, close knit team – your duties would also include email/phone & computer work. Stock maintenance, ordering & processing. Sweeping, cleaning and coffee making.

A valid drivers licence would be beneficial, but not necessarily essential.  However the ability to ride a bike to a reasonable standard might just be a deal breaker.

We’ve got flexible ways of offering arrangements with respect to hours and days, but if you’re looking for long weekends and winters away skiing – this might be your dream come true!

For more information or to show interest, send your CV and bribe to info@velotek.se

Nyheter!

MBR Trail Bike of the Year goes to the….

Specialized Stumpjumper Evo Comp.

Guess what? we have 2 in store ready to go!!

Size S3 & S4 – 59,000kr

Come and check them out.

MBR Magazine “With all the different ways to adjust the Stumpy EVO, you could argue that Specialized is leaving it up to the customer to do the hard yards. Not so. Because even if you stick with the base settings, you’re already in a great spot – this bike literally shreds. Yes, it’s more money due to the carbon chassis, but you get a lot of benefits in terms of weight saving, performance, adjustability and SWAT storage. The real reason it’s our Trail Bike of the Year in the shop-bought category, though, is because it climbs every bit as well as it descends.”
